BTC: Spent Output Price Distribution (SOPD): ATH-Partitioned
Included with Pro.
How much BTC was spent on a chosen day at each acquisition price: the day's spent coins grouped by their creation-day price into 100 equal bands from zero to the highest daily close so far.
Why use it. Shows which price levels the coins moving that day were bought at: spending of coins bought near the high marks capitulation or break-even selling by recent buyers, spending of coins bought far below it marks profit-taking. How to read it. Each bar is the BTC spent that day whose creation-day price falls in the band; bands to the left of the day's price were spent in profit, to the right at a loss. Pick a day to compare.
Calculation. The bands are 100 equal slices of zero to the highest admitted daily BTC/USD close up to the end of the selected day (the last band includes that high; it is a daily close, not an intraday high). Coins without a creation-day price (created before 18 July 2010) are a separate amount outside the price axis, as is anything above the high. One sealed UTC day at a time; the open day appears once it closes. Cost basis resets whenever an output moves, so change outputs and moves between one owner's addresses count as spends at their creation price. Computed by CryptoKeyhole from its own Bitcoin node's record of every unspent and spent output by creation day, with its own admitted daily BTC/USD prices. Daily from 18 July 2010. Each value describes the UTC day after its last block, valued at the day's closing price; the open day is a labelled partial, valued at the latest completed hour and updated through the day, and becomes final six blocks after the day's last block.
