Their bitcoin over time

Bitcoin at their listed addresses

All the listed organisations together, at the end of each UTC day, read from our own Bitcoin node. Each address counts for its whole history, before and after the organisation was listed. The most at once: 1,021 BTC on 14 Dec 2018. Open the chart.

Why they are listed

Each organisation is listed under one or more sanctions programmes. In plain words:

  • Cyber-related: 13 organisations
  • Terrorism: 4 organisations
  • Russia-related: 4 organisations
  • North Korea: 3 organisations
  • Election interference: 2 organisations
  • Illicit drugs: 2 organisations
  • Weapons of mass destruction: 1 organisation

How we count

  • We read the Specially Designated Nationals list the US Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control publishes, once a day, and take the digital currency addresses it gives for organisations. Addresses it gives for individuals are never read.
  • We count the chains our own nodes read: bitcoin on Bitcoin, and ether, USDT and USDC on Ethereum. Addresses on Tron, Monero and other chains are on the list but not on our nodes, so the totals understate what the listed organisations hold.
  • Bitcoin balances come from every block of our Bitcoin node; Ethereum balances are read from our Ethereum node at each refresh. We show totals for each organisation and never follow coins past the listed addresses.
  • An address on the list is the government's attribution, quoted as published; coins can reach it from anyone, and a listed organisation can hold coins at addresses not on the list.

The totals as data: /api/v1/sanctions (free, no key). The list itself, with every address: OFAC's sanctions list search.

Questions

How much crypto do sanctioned organisations hold?

At 23:00 UTC on 8 Nov 2026, CryptoKeyhole's nodes see 1.45 BTC, 412.46 ETH and $28,791 in USDT and USDC at the addresses the US sanctions list gives for organisations, $1.01M in all, on the chains our nodes read.

Which crypto addresses are sanctioned?

The US Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control lists them in its Specially Designated Nationals list, beside the person or organisation they belong to. Its own search shows every one; this page adds up what the organisations' addresses hold on our nodes.

Why aren't individuals shown?

We follow organisations only and publish totals. Addresses the list gives for people are never read.

Can sanctioned crypto be frozen?

Stablecoins can: their issuers can block an address, so USDT or USDC at a listed address may no longer be able to move. Bitcoin and ether can't be frozen on chain.
