Total Realized Cap
Shown as its 2019–2022 sample; the latest readings and full history are included with Plus.
The realized caps of all our assets added together: the total capital invested in the coins and tokens we track at the prices they last moved at.
Why use it. Realized cap grows when money comes in at higher prices and shrinks when coins move at a loss, so the total is a measure of capital across the market we cover, not just bitcoin. How to read it. A rising total means net capital flowing in across the basket; a falling one capital leaving at a loss. Bitcoin dominates the total; Total Realized Cap Index weighs every asset equally.
Calculation. The sum of the assets' realized caps (USD) on each closed UTC day, over the assets with a value that day. The basket is every asset whose realized cap and SOPR we compute from our own nodes: Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, Dogecoin, Bitcoin Cash and the ERC-20 tokens we index (wrapped bitcoin is left out, its coins being Bitcoin's). It is far smaller than an all-market basket and changes as we add tokens. Computed from the published Realized Cap and SOPR charts of each asset (our own Bitcoin, Litecoin, Dogecoin, Bitcoin Cash and Ethereum archive nodes; token amounts and cost bases from the Ethereum node), closed UTC days only, recomputed every hour; values take the finality of their inputs.
