BTC: Close vs 2017 Cycle Peak (2017-12-16)

Percentage of the daily BTC close below the 2017-12-16 cycle-peak close of $19,345.49, from that peak until a later close exceeds it.

Why use it. Comparing the depth and length of each bear market puts the current drawdown in context. How to read it. Starts at 0% on the peak and falls as price declines; the line ends once a later close exceeds the peak. Compare it with the other cycles' lines, which keep their own calendar dates.

Calculation. 100 × (daily close ÷ cycle-peak close − 1). Cycle peaks are fixed after the fact from daily closes, not intraday highs. This is one line of the chart "BTC Price Performance Since Each Cycle Peak"; it is published separately so it can be charted, compared and exported alone. Calculated from our own validated Bitcoin Core node history; final once the closed UTC day has six confirmations. Daily closes are the accepted daily valuation prices: historical closes from The Bitcoin Time Machine (CC BY 4.0), then our own recorded Alternative.me quotes; they stay provisional and revisable.
