BTC: Daily Quote - 21-Day EMA
Bitcoin Daily Quote - 21-Day EMA was $78,922.65 on 7 Nov 2026 (latest daily value).
Bitcoin's 21-day exponential moving average of the daily close.
Why use it. A fast trend line, popular as a gauge of the short-term trend. How to read it. Price above it means short-term strength, below it weakness.
Calculation. Exact definition: The 21-day exponential moving average of the admitted daily closing BTC/USD quote. The EMA lags the quote: a quote above the line is above its smoothed level, and below it beneath. The EMA is seeded from its first 21 adjacent daily values and resets at gaps, so a missing quote restarts the warmup. Day D uses the following 00:00 UTC quote; earlier quotes are retrospective closes with unknown publication time, venue and vintage, later ones keep their actual clocks, values are provisional and revisable, and the open day is a labelled partial. ema(a if a > 0, otherwise undefined, 21): a 21-day exponential moving average of each UTC day's positive admitted ending-boundary BTC/USD quote, seeded with its first 21 adjacent values and reset at gaps, with no carry or interpolation. Computed over the full retained history before viewport selection, with existing 40-digit Decimal arithmetic.
