BTC: Close / 2016-07-09 Halving-Day Close
Daily BTC close divided by the close of 2016-07-09, the UTC day containing block 420,000, until block 630,000.
Why use it. Each halving cuts new issuance in half; this tracks how price developed through the epoch that followed. How to read it. Starts at 1× on the halving day and ends at the next halving; below 1× means the close was under the halving-day close.
Calculation. Daily close ÷ close of the UTC day containing the halving block, located from our own node's headers. This is one line of the chart "BTC Price Multiple Since Each Halving"; it is published separately so it can be charted, compared and exported alone. Calculated from our own validated Bitcoin Core node history; final once the closed UTC day has six confirmations. Daily closes are the accepted daily valuation prices: historical closes from The Bitcoin Time Machine (CC BY 4.0), then our own recorded Alternative.me quotes; they stay provisional and revisable.
