BTC: Closing Quote Bands - Daily20
Bitcoin Closing Quote Bands - Daily20: daily data through 7 Nov 2026.
Three USD lines around BTC's 20-day closing-quote mean: the mean itself and bands two sample standard deviations above and below it.
Why use it. Show the recent average close and how widely daily closes have varied around it. How to read it. The middle, upper and lower lines are separate and never summed. Wider bands mean more variable closes over the 20 days; a close outside a band is more than two sample deviations from the mean. Bands are statistical comparisons, not forecasts or trading signals. A missing or nonpositive quote leaves the window undefined. Points are UTC days labelled at the day start, the open day a labelled partial at its latest completed hourly quote, with no interpolation or carry; values are provisional and revisable.
Calculation. Middle = arithmetic mean of 20 adjacent positive admitted daily closing quotes; upper and lower = middle plus or minus 2 × the sample standard deviation of the same window, computed as the population deviation × the square root of 20/19 (variance divisor 19). A full window is required. Historical quotes are retrospective, with unknown original publication time and venue. The full retained history is computed before the view is filtered.
