Why use it. It shows how high each cycle peaked and when new highs were made. How to read it. The line steps up at each new closing high and stays flat in between; the gap down to the price is the drawdown.

The line only rises or stays flat, stepping up on days that set a new high. It tracks daily closing-boundary quotes, not intraday or trade highs, and an interior missing quote leaves all later values undefined. Day D uses the following 00:00 UTC quote; earlier quotes are retrospective closes with unknown publication time, venue and vintage, later ones keep their actual clocks, values are provisional and revisable, and the open day is a labelled partial. cummax(a if a > 0, otherwise undefined): the running maximum of each UTC day's positive admitted ending-boundary BTC/USD quote from the first retained day, with no carry or interpolation. Computed over the full retained history before viewport selection, with existing 40-digit Decimal arithmetic.
