Why use it. A compressed price scale, between linear and log, used in some formulas. How to read it. It rises with the price but more slowly; read it against its own history.

Calculation. Exact definition: The square root of the admitted daily closing BTC/USD quote, in sqrt(USD/BTC). Higher values mean a higher quote, and quadrupling the quote doubles the value. Non-positive or missing quotes stay undefined, with no carry or interpolation. Day D uses the following 00:00 UTC quote; earlier quotes are retrospective closes with unknown publication time, venue and vintage, later ones keep their actual clocks, values are provisional and revisable, and the open day is a labelled partial. sqrt(a if a > 0, otherwise undefined): the square root of each UTC day's positive admitted ending-boundary BTC/USD quote. Computed over the full retained history before viewport selection, with existing 40-digit Decimal arithmetic.
