BTC: Days With a Higher Close
Bitcoin Days With a Higher Close was 566 days on 7 Nov 2026 (latest daily value).
How many earlier days the BTC price closed above the day's close: 0 on an all-time high.
Why use it. A count of days rather than a share: it says how much of the past was more expensive than the day. It resets to 0 at every new high and climbs in a drawdown, more steeply the longer the market traded above the day's price. How to read it. 0 means a record close. A large count means the price has fallen back to levels it first passed long ago. The count can only grow while the price stays below earlier closes, so read it beside the length of the history (Profitable Days gives the same comparison as a share).
Calculation. For each day: the number of earlier days whose close was above the day's close. The first day has no value; the open day is counted from its latest price. BTC/USD prices are the site's admitted daily closes: from The Bitcoin Time Machine (CC BY 4.0) until 2 October 2026, then quotes recorded from Alternative.me at each boundary (within 15 minutes, never carried forward). Daily closes start on 17 July 2010; hourly quotes start on 3 October 2026. Values for closed periods are provisional, like the BTC closes they come from, and change if a close is revised. The open period is a partial value from the latest hourly quote, updated every hour.
