BTC: Profitable Days
Bitcoin Profitable Days was 90.5% on 7 Nov 2026 (latest daily value).
The share of all earlier days on which the BTC price closed lower than on the day: the share of bitcoin's trading history in which a buyer who held to that day would be in profit.
Why use it. It turns a price into a statement about the whole history. Near 100% almost every earlier buyer is in profit; a fall from the highs pulls the share down quickly, because recent prices are where most of the trading history was made. It places a drawdown in context better than the percentage drop from the top. How to read it. 100% means every earlier day closed lower: an all-time high. 50% means half of all earlier days closed lower and half higher. The share is measured against all history to the day, so each new day adds to the base; it describes where the price stands, not where it goes next.
Calculation. For each day: 100 × (the earlier days whose close was below the day's close) ÷ (all earlier days). An equal close counts as neither lower nor higher. The first day has no value; the open day is ranked from its latest price. BTC/USD prices are the site's admitted daily closes: from The Bitcoin Time Machine (CC BY 4.0) until 2 October 2026, then quotes recorded from Alternative.me at each boundary (within 15 minutes, never carried forward). Daily closes start on 17 July 2010; hourly quotes start on 3 October 2026. Values for closed periods are provisional, like the BTC closes they come from, and change if a close is revised. The open period is a partial value from the latest hourly quote, updated every hour.
