Why use it. The shortest of the period-over-period returns: how far price moved from one day's close to the next. How to read it. Positive values mean the close is above the previous day's; negative values mean below. Past change only.

Calculation. 100 × (daily close ÷ previous day's close − 1). Calculated from our own validated Bitcoin Core node history; final once the closed UTC day has six confirmations. Daily closes are the accepted daily valuation prices: historical closes from The Bitcoin Time Machine (CC BY 4.0), then our own recorded Alternative.me quotes; they stay provisional and revisable.
